Description

In many spaces, flat reflective surfaces can cause interfering reflections and excessive reverberation which can corrupt work environments, meeting and gathering areas, music quality and speech intelligibility to name a few. One of the most attractive approaches to controlling noise, sound reflections and excess reverberation is to utilize sound absorbing natural wood wall and ceiling panels. Although the materials and methods used to control the acoustics within an environment have advanced, the basic principle of sound absorption has not changed — converting sound energy into heat energy.

AKINCO Wooden panels are powerful union between architecture and acoustical performance. Utilizing bold 3-4mm grooves in a high recycled content, Class A fire rated, ULEF and FSC certified wood plank, our grooved panels achieves up to an NRC=0.80 while maintaining the ambiance of the space with reflections at the highest frequencies.

These panels are typically mounted with a porous, sound absorbing core behind, such as fiberglass / polyester board with appropriate density for optimum performance and to meet the requirements of the design.

Perforated Acoustic Panels

Perforated panels are the most economical way to get an acoustic treatment with a high degree of absorption. With several variations of patterns and hole diameters, different levels of absorption and aesthetic results can be achieved.

Constructed from 12mm to 18mm thick medium density fiberboard (MDF) core, with a choice of natural veneer, laminate or paint finishes to the face. Perforated panels can be used for wall or ceiling applications.

Holes can vary in diameter and centers yet perform well acoustically. Perforated panels are available in standard sizes of 600mm x 600mm and 1200mm x 600mm. Other sizes are available on request.

The perforation in the wood facing allows the panel to achieve NRC values as high as 1.00. The panels are built on a MDF or chipboard core and are offered with your choice of 24 standard wood veneer facings and 40 custom veneers. These wooden wall panels are Class A fire-rated and are easily installed by the attachment of nail clips onto furring strips.

Micro Perforated Acoustic Panels
Acoustical materials are usually constructed of soft, pliable, porous materials, and visual aesthetics are secondary to sound absorption ability. Typically, the appearance of acoustic absorbing materials within architectural and public spaces is difficult to disguise, and is either displayed openly, such as acoustic ceiling panels or sprayed cellulose acoustical insulation, or concealed behind fabric The AKINCO “Micro-Perforated” acoustic panels offer unrivalled acoustic absorption (up to Alpha 0.95)(α-values) while preserving the aesthetic appearance of the real wood veneer. The 0.5mm/ 0.7mm holes on the panels are barely significant and only become visible when it is viewed from a few centimeters away. The sound penetrates the panel through a multitude of micro-holes and is channeled into perforations in the MDF core. Micro perforated panels are manufactured on fiberboard panels (MDF) with micro perforations on the visible side and big holes in the back side to improve absorption coefficient of the panels. Our micro perforated acoustic panels can be manufactured in several versions, to be installed on walls or ceilings. In both cases you should leave behind a space or “plenum” filled with a low density mineral fiber to help improve the optimal absorption coefficient.

Standardized sizes are 2400×600, 1200×600 and 600×600 mm. with a thickness of 16mm. Other sizes available.
