Description

Inertia Base should be used where the machine to be vibration isolated produces large unbalanced forces which would result in excessive motion if supported directly on spring or rubber based isolators. They should also be used where the machine is subject to external forces or is inherently unstable.

AKINCO Inertia come in several standard sizes as listed in our catalogue. However, these can also manufactured to any size and specifications, even for heavier and more complex vibration isolation problems, where viscous damping may also be required. For frame lengths greater than 2400 mm we would normally recommend 6 isolators or more for exceptionally large bases. The base is to be filled with concrete having a mass of between 2300 and 2700Kg / M³

Features

  • Increases the ability of barriers to attenuate noise.
  • Tough, abuse-resistant steel construction.
  • Designed to withstand substantial loads.
  • Structural steel work included on request.
  • Weather-resistant and guaranteed rust-proof finish.
  • Fully welded steel construction with integral concrete reinforcement fixed at 35 mm above bottom of frame. Range of standard size frames available in three thicknesses 150, 200, 300 & 350 mm. Frame thicknesses not less than L/12 where “L” is the longest side of the frame.
  • Finished with a single coat of red oxide primer on external surface only.

Areas of applications

Typically used with vibration isolators for support and isolation of:

  • Chillers
  • Pumps
  • Compressors
  • Centrifugal Fans
  • Air Handling Units
  • Evaporative Condensers
  • Cooling Towers
Work to be carried out on site

STAGEONE

The inertia base frame to be laid in position on a sheet of plastic or roof felt.

STAGETWO

Fill the frame with concrete. Tamp down the level and smooth the surface.
